Karate Advancement Award Ceremony

The boys have completed another semester of Karate. Matthew and Noah advanced in rank to green belt, purple stripe. Joshua "the Zen Master Zenn", (as he is referred to by his instructor) is a ranking black belt, and so was an Assistant Sensei. They all did great! I had to post the video of Matthew receiving his award...so sweet! I'm not sure what got into him but thrilled to see it!

Adriana has decided that she wants to do that. I'll have to get details on how she can become a Zen Master Zenn's friend.

A little history...

Mike and I were married in 1996. Our first son Joshua was born in Colorado and struggled from the beginning. A heart defect wasn't found until we moved to Minnesota when he was 8 months old. He had mitral valve stenosis and should have died. He was taken into surgery for a new valve and was good as new. He required a second valve replacement during his 1st grade year of school due to pneumonia. He also suffers from eye strabismus, asthma and allergies.

Thanks to Joshua, our second baby, Matthew, was watched carefully in utero. At the 20 week ultrasound they said, 4 chamber heart, looks good! We were sent back for a level 2 ultrasound a few weeks later where we received the blow...Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. It's been an extremely long road but today he is doing very well. We've added along the way Hypogammaglobulinemia with T-cell dysfunction (Immune Deficient), Plastic Bronchitis (due to fat - so no-fat diet), autism spectrum disorder, ADD/ADHD combined type, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, & Asthma. He also suffers from strabismus (eye crossing), migraines and many other side effects from surgery and medications.

Our 3rd son Noah was born with an ASD - Atrial Septal Defect - but it seems to have fixed itself. He also has the eye crossing - strabismus.

Then there is Isaac...son number 4. Isaac has Type 1 Diabetes, a peanut allergy and the lazy eye.
