1st two weeks

The first two weeks have been...interesting! Georgia drivers are CRAZY!!! And the traffic is terrible!!! It must be law that you can't use your turn signal and you are only allowed to switch lanes if there are 5 inches or less in front of the car you are getting in front of. I'm kidding, of course, but, I'm waiting to get slammed.

Our first week here was pretty much a nightmare with trying to get the kids into school. Everything had to be on Georgia papers (immunizations, vision, hearing, etc.) so 2 days in the Health Clinic and $100 later, the school finally accepted them in without a home address.

Speaking of a home address, we still do not have one. We have gone back and forth with the bank on a forclosure that needs some work. Hopefully we will hear back today and get in soon. We do have a couple of back up homes we like if we need to go that route. Now that the kids are enrolled in schools, it narrows our search area because I don't want them to have to switch again.

They started school last Monday. Isaac and I are spending at least 4 hours a day in the car getting them back and forth. The schedules are a little weird and backward from what we are used to but it will work. Matthew and Noah seemed to have a great week. They have made some friends and are doing well. Matthew was SUPER excited that his class was doing a VIP (very important person) day on Friday. It is actually a huge project that they have been working on for weeks so his teacher said he didn't have to do it. But, it is the perfect kind of project for Matthew. He threw it together and had so much fun answering questions to parents about Albert Einstein.

Middle school is a little bit more tough to find your place, but Josh is doing well and did find some boys from church in some of his classes. On the 2nd day after dropping off Josh, Isaac said "I forgot to tell him of not being afraid to ask questions!" So, he has been sure to remind him of that every day since.

The new ward (church) has been great and very welcoming. They already had me help with sharing time yesterday for the little kids and we've been to FHE and break the fast dinner with new friends from the ward. There are friends in all of the boys classes. The youth group is HUGE...I think they said they have 50 or 60 some young men. We are VERY excited to have gotten here before the temple rededication. The open house begins in a couple of weeks and then President Monson will be here for the dedication on May 1st. Joshua will get to be a part of the cultural event taking place that weekend. Very exciting time! (The Minnesota temple opened not too long after we moved there 11 or 12 years ago!)

We did get to visit an urgent care right off the bat. Noah and Isaac thought it would be fun to spin on the chair in our hotel room. Right after Mike told them to stop, Isaac flew off and into the wall and sliced his head open. Not too bad, just 4staples. He will be getting those out today. He said on the way back to the hotel that he will spin carefully! I keep telling him he will NOT spin at all but he was right back on it.


Still trying to figure out doctors and get all of the records here. Matthew is due for IV tomorrow and I don't know if we are going to be able to work it out and if we do it will have to be at the hospital which means he already has to miss a full day of school. Oh well.

Joshua just celebrated a birthday...a TEENAGER!!!!!! We took them to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid and had presents and cake.





Overall, we are good and everyone is healthy.
